“Engaging pain patients in your OPD” (half day workshop on basic cognitive – behavioural principles) was held at the Hospital Authority Headquarter (HAHO) on 5 th May 2007.
I would like to congratulate Dr. MC Chu for his well received workshop that was held at HAHO. A total of 139 participants had attended with a truly multidisciplinary representation. There were occupational therapists, nurses, physiotherapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, anaesthesiologists, orthopedic surgeons and physicians. A private dentist has also expressed interest in recruiting his peers for subsequent workshops. Also, congratulations to the 2 prize winners, Ms. Cheung Kwai Ping (POH) and Ms. Wong Sui Ching (TMH).
I hope that future education events will just be as encouraging. One thing unique about our HKPS education events is our group of multidisciplinary representatives. They are valuable opportunities to meet colleagues from different fields of practice. I hope we will continue to show support to these events and make them regular occurrences.
Two of our future events of the year are:
Management of chronic headache on 10 July 07
ASM in 22-23 September 07
Symposium on occupational Rehabilitation for chronic pain sufferers on 27 Nov 07
Please mark these dates on your calendar and visit our website to find out about registration details. We will soon distribute the flyers and posters for the ASM.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our conveners for their hard work and dedication. A special thank you goes to Ruby Ho who has helped in organizing both events with incredible efficiency.
Many of our members are working on the coming ASM programmes and it is definitely an event not to be missed.
